Our tips for your first time in the snow for the best learning and stay in the Sierra Nevada:
Where to start?
The first thing to do is to decide when to go skiing. The season has High Season, Low Season and Promotion. Choose the dates that suit you best. If possible, we recommend that you choose dates when demand is not at its peak. That way you will be more comfortable as in high season the queues are usually very annoying and eternal!
Sierra Nevada, with its ideal characteristics for your learning, guarantees a happy stay. It is a suitable resort to take the fundamental steps in this winter sport, skiing or snowboarding. Or to continue progressing.

Tips for the first time in Sierra Nevada

Tip 1 Park in the car park.

Here are the main tips for your first time in the Sierra Nevada. If you come by car, park directly in the Sierra Nevada car park. You may think that parking on the pavement will save you some money. The tow truck is on the alert and could ruin your day.

Tip 2 Arrive early. The Forfait.

Arrive early 8:30 or 9 am to make the most of your ski day. As early as possible. 8 am too! On weekends or public holidays, the queues can make you lose your whole perfect morning. You can get your ski pass at the ticket office. It’s a must. Or you can buy it in advance here. And we will deliver it to you at our establishment, without queuing.

Tip 3 Accommodation.

Select your accommodation in advance. The earlier you book, the cheaper you can get it. We recommend the lower and middle parts of the resort. Find out where the buildings and hotels are located on the map of the resort and also where to find us, we are just 3 steps from the El Parador chairlift and a few metres from the Borreguiles gondola lift. Two key lifts so you don’t have to carry your equipment.

Tip 4 Choose the School and Rental.

Choose the ski school and the rental of your skis or snowboards, accessories and clothing, to make your day as enjoyable as possible from the very beginning. There are many rental shops and schools and of course different rates. Choose the one that gives you the most confidence and security. And the one that corresponds to your level and experience. Cheap is not always advisable. An important help is to look for customer comments and reviews on the Internet.

Your equipment should include snow clothing if you didn’t plan for it when you packed your suitcase. Or do you simply prefer to test how well you are doing in this sport before you buy that jacket which looks so nice? Some shops that rent out ski clothing and accessories for this purpose.

In our shop, we offer all-inclusive packages with clothing, accessories and ski or snowboard equipment. This is an unbeatable offer where we provide you with boards, boots, poles, helmets, gloves, goggles, jackets and trousers. You can see more tips here.

Tip 5 Clothing.

Clothing is very important. It should be waterproof. Dress in layers: a thermal T-shirt, another T-shirt depending on how cold you are. Have a sweatshirt or jumper and a jacket. Layer on top of layer. That’s what it means to dress in layers. A pair of thermal trousers or leggings and socks, please! Make them thin and knee-high. Thermal socks are ideal, and not thick. And above all, no two or three socks on top of each other. Don’t forget gloves, goggles, sun cream, helmet (it can save your life).

Tip 6 The teacher.

Choose who is going to be that magical professional who will guide you in your first classes, which can be in a group or individually. And you must enjoy it. Take our advice. We have seen many abandonments and disappointments for not taking on the help of a teacher from first experiences. You won’t need it forever! But you will need it in your first attempts.

It is also not advisable to always be in lessons. Because this sport of skiing or snowboarding needs lessons, key in the first days, and above all, to walk many kilometres practising. This is very important. Practice. Practice and more practice. And a lesson now and then. So that you don’t pick up those defects that you’ll never be able to get rid of again.
One last thing from tip 6, just for today, because there are so many: don’t let an amateur teach you, my friend.

Tip 7 Children.

Children are the most precious creatures. Anticipate where they will start learning to ski. On our platform, you will find very convenient family skiing offers with excellent professionals. They will learn to ski in a safe and fun way. Or they will progress if they are already great little experts. Understand that your child’s safety can cost you more than their learning. Don’t skimp on this, it is important. Entrust them to experienced professionals.
